With an estimated 40 million Americans living with the impacts of anxiety disorders, the need for property treatment is evident. This mental illness can create symptoms that make getting through everyday life difficult at best. Fortunately, there are a host of anxiety medicine options that patients are often given to coincide with other forms of treatment.
When anxiety medication is used in conjunction with therapy, self-help techniques and support, many forms of anxiety are treatable and even curable. Even conditions as serious as posttraumatic stress disorder can be brought under wraps with the use of anxiety medication.
Types Of Anxiety Medication
There are two types of anxiety medication that most doctors consider prescribing to patients. They both can have a very positive impact in lessening and/or controlling the symptoms of anxiety.
- Antidepressants. Medications such as Zoloft and Paxil are given for more long-term treatment of anxiety symptoms. These medications can take some time to work, so patients are advised to use them as directed and follow instructions carefully. When used in conjunction with behavioral and cognitive therapy, this type of anxiety medicine can be very beneficial for patients.
- Anti-anxiety. This type of anxiety medication involves rapid treatment of acute symptoms. This class of anxiety medicine is considered potentially addictive and has depressant effects. Patients are advised not to take this form of medication for a long period of time. Other options for treatment are generally more effective for overall, lasting relief from anxiety symptoms.
What Medicine Does
Anxiety medicine is not necessarily designed to cure or overcome anxiety symptoms. What it does do is bring symptoms in line so patients can work on other forms of therapy. When anxiety disorders are present, patients often benefit from:
Psychological therapy
- Behavioral and cognitive therapy can give people the tools they need to overcome anxiety disorder. When medications bring symptoms in line, patients are free to work on other, most lasting, techniques for conquering their anxiety disorder. In many cases, positive thinking, desensitization and other techniques come into play to assist patients in "living through" the experiences that trigger their anxiety.
- Self-help. Meditative therapy, self-hypnosis, relaxation techniques and more can all help patients further overcome their illnesses. While it is true not all anxiety disorders are curable, most are controllable if the right therapy is applied.
Anxiety medicine is not a cure all, but it is an important part of an overall treatment plan. When controlling symptoms is a must to put a person back on the right track, these medicines do the job.

Dude, brother I’m with you. I had a total voice and personal apperance phobia. At certain stages of middle school I would change my personality almost every week to see which worked best. Of course I was a loaner, but I’m making great strides now. With a few bumps in the road, but i feel more mature having gone through that
Fear, Worry, Nervousness, Depression, Paranoia.
The two main treatments for a general anxiety disorder are medication and psychotherapy. The type of medication used in treating GAD is an anti-depressant. As in name suggests, an anti-depressant fights depression. It tries to counter all negative thoughts like distress, agony and anxiety. One of the newer types of anti-depressant is the SSRI or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Even if it causes nausea and sexual dysfunction in some cases, SSRI is considered very helpful for it enhances the mood by manipulating neurotransmitters.
Two types of helpful therapies are behavioral therapy and cognitive therapy. Behavioral therapy aims to lessen or to eliminate the behavior brought by the disorder. In your Nana's case, it's the anxiety. Through behavioral therapy, she'll be taught how to relax in times of worry-filled situations and how to breathe well to fight hyperventilation. Cognitive therapy, on the other hand, aims to discover the connection between your Nana's mental state and her anxiety.
She'll be taught how to deal with unwanted thoughts full of anxiety to prevent GAD symptoms. It will help her fight the disorder.

If you suffer from constant attacks of constipation, diarrhea, or both you’re not alone. If these symptoms occur frequently around potentially stressful situations; you probably have a condition named Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS. Irritable bowel syndrome attacks many around the world, and oddly more women than men are affected. For all those who can relate to these frequent and often life interrupting symptoms, they only want to hear that there is a cure for IBS. There are many who have had this disease dictate the actions of their entire life. However, when they go to their doctor hoping that this visit will yield an IBS cure, they usually receive a long drawn out dissertation on the history of the disease, a few over the counter stomach ache medicines that might help, and a prescription for an anti-anxiety medicine. Instead of an IBS cure, these patients receive a drug that they will no doubt become dependent on and often still have the same symptoms. Often times, people with…

Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, and alchemist.
He showed that the motions of objects on Earth and of celestial bodies are governed by the same set of natural laws, and theorized of gravitation.
In mechanics, Newton enunciated the principles of conservation of momentum and angular momentum.
In optics, he invented the reflecting telescope and developed a theory of colour based on the observation that a prism decomposes white light into a visible spectrum. He also formulated an empirical law of cooling and studied the speed of sound.
In mathematics, Newton shares the credit with Gottfried Leibniz for the development of the calculus. He also demonstrated the generalized binomial theorem, developed the so-called "Newton's method" for approximating the zeroes of a function, and contributed to the study of power series.
In a 2005 poll of the Royal Society of who had the greatest effect on the history of science, Newton was deemed more influential than Albert Einstein.

unless you have this problem, panic attacks, you can’t imagine the total hell the sufferer goes through. People think it’s just that “you can’t go places”. It’s not that so much as you do not want to be out some place when your next attack hits. For example…..how great would you feel driving down the highway at 55 mph when you know at any second you could be not able to breath, visual problems, faintness, dizzy, near vomiting and passing out?
I have panic attacks as well. When I feel one coming on, My heart starts beating super fast. So much so, i can see it through my shirt. Then my hands get real sweaty, kinda if you had held your hand over a pot of steaming water. Then my breathing gets short and fast and I usually get nausea. There is no "cure" for them, they are life long, but they get better with age. First i reccomend finding what emotional triggers brin on your attacks. Knowing what brings them on can help you calm down. Try to breathe slowly, drink water and lower your heart rate because the higher the heart rate, the worse it'll get. Depending on their frequency and severity level, you may have to go to a doctor and aget some anti-anxiety medicine. but hopefully it won't resort to that. Panic attacks suck, and having someone with you to help you through them is always a great support. Hope this helps
I took some of my mom drugged medicine to cool me down. Its not working on me): im scared I might have an anxiety attack when I sleep):
