How to Cure Panic Attacks
These medical professional tells you to learn to live with panic attacks. They teach you "coping technique", "breathing exercises" and ask you to change your life style to suit your anxiety. They give you medication to subdue your panic attacks. No one question their methods because they are medical professional - its all "medically proven".
Don't get me wrong, I am not condemning these medical professionals. Some of them do an excellent job in helping people, but the fact remains that there's still a lot people out there who do not respond well to their treatment methods and are still suffering from panic attacks.
People need an alternative! They don't need to be stuck taking medicine forever or even have this beliefs that they are "incurable".
Panic attacks is NOT incurable. Its not even a mental illness. Somehow along the way, your "panic alarm" gets messed up. It goes off for no reason even though your not in any danger - this is panic attack!
So... can you cure panic attacks? YES! You just have to learn how to fixed this "panic alarm", its that simple! Does this sound incurable? Obviously NOT!
The KEY thing to take note is fear. What's make panic attack difficult to stop? Fear. The fear of having a heart attack during panic attack. The fear of fainting during a panic attack. The fear that you might actually die from a panic attack. How to cure panic attacks is to stop this irrational fear.
Your heart is pounding madly and your chest hurts, you think its a heart attack...but ITS NOT! This sort of heart activity is usually reserved for vigorous activity (for example:exercising), when you don't notice it as much. Its suppose to feel this way when your in "panic mode".
You feel dizzy and weak, you think your going to faint soon...but YOUR NOT! This sensation is caused by hyperventilation - when your breathing too fast and taking in too much oxygen. Having too much oxygen in your blood will disrupt its normal flow, your brain automatically restrict blood flow to balance out the low carbon dioxide levels - resulting in light-headedness.
As you can see, every symptom your experiencing is caused by the body. Your not stuck with some "mysterious illness". Furthermore, your body CANNOT kill itself and that's why you having nothing to fear. Panic attack CANNOT kill you.

According to the OED (Oxford English Dictionary) the term "witch doctor" was first used in English in 1718, in a book by Francis Hutchinson. That's good two centuries after the end of the middle ages.
It's my feeling that if a word didn't exist to describe something at a particular time, it's because that something didn't exist. You aren't going to find references to rocket scientists in the middle ages either!
Charles Mackay wrote a book called "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" in 1841 which mentions witch doctors in England. It think it's probable that the existence of witch doctors in England in the 18th and 19th centuries may have been something of a backlash against the more de-humanizing aspects of the Industrial Revolution.
**However***
It is possible that by "witch doctor" you may just mean "healer." If that's the case, just use that word as your search term.
Bear in mind that the middle ages were 1000 years long and covered more than a dozens cultures. During that time there doctors, surgeons, midwives, alchemists, healers and (in some corners like Finland) shamans, any of which might be what you are actually looking for. Also try using the terms "physician" or "chiurgeon" (a medieval spelling of "surgeon"; often used generically for any doctor).
Also be careful of ahistorial bias. The methods of medieval chiurgeons might seem a little "hocus-pocus-y" to us (balancing humors, bloodletting, etc.), but they were based on what was understood (and widely accepted) about the human body at the time. Also, much of it was based on the writings of the Roman physician Galen, who's writing remained the standard medical text for a millenium.
EDIT: I came across something else that might help you: the term "cunning folk". These men and women were part of the rural British and Welsh scene from the 16th to the 19th century. The term "witch doctor" could well apply to them. However, it should be noted that they didn't claim they were curing physical ailments by magic; they claimed they were curing *magical ailments* – that is to say, if someone though they had been cursed, they went to a cunning man or cunning woman for a cure – to undo the curse.
It's notable that they only arise after the Protestant Reformation in England. It is thought that they filled a niche in the popular psyche previously filled by Catholic priests who practiced both routine blessings and, when deemed necessary, exorcisms.
These "cunning folk" did not exist in the middle ages either. The 16th century is post-medieval.
When you get anxious, or panic, the body releases adrenalin. The adrenalin causes your body to overact ie the heart beat increases, you breath quicker etc , that in turn makes you panic more and then your body releases more adrenalin for fight or flight (which it is meant to do ) and then this makes you even more upset and you panic even more. The solution I found is to breathe into a paper bag (not plastic), and inhale your own carbondioxide. This slows down the increase in breathing and stops the cycle of panic frrom getting worse. It really works too.I found my panic attacks have virtually stopped altogether now.

I’m not surprised that the fans reacted that way – this is one show that really is best without spoilers, and a lot of the industry leaks have been low quality/half-finished pieces that end up souring how you look at the ultimate product.

Yes, upon entering medical school they are warned of losing all sexual feeling. I however did not listen. I became a doctor and gave over 10 breast exams a day. I came home to my wife and I had no desire to give her a breast exam… at all. It almost tore our marriage apart, luckily we were able to have kids, I don't know how I did it… After I worked up to giving vaginal exams it became even worse, I didn't even want to look at her. I think it's because I'm actually gay. If you're thinking about being a doctor don't, because it will turn you gay. Just look at my story.
