Overcoming Panic Attacks
Are you suffering from panic attacks? Are you looking for effective ways to overcoming panic attacks?
Here are 3 strategies that will allow you to control your panic attacks:
start a series of medications learn a set of coping techniques concentrate on stress reduction techniques
The following article explains the benefits and risks associated with each strategy.
1. Medication
Your doctor may recommend starting certain medications to overcome panic attacks. There are several anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications that have been proven effective in overcoming panic attacks.
Sometimes panic attacks are associated with an imbalance of certain brain chemicals. Some medications can restore your brain chemistry to normal levels.
It's important to use these prescription drugs only under the advice and care of a physician. Usually your doctor will slowly increase the dosage until you find the amount that's right for you.
You should never stop taking these medications without discussing it with your doctor. Stopping them suddenly is also a bad idea -- it's important to reduce the dosage over time.
2. Coping Techniques
Before you get started on prescription drugs, you may want to try certain coping techniques.
First of all, you can try changing your reactions to a panic attack. Rather than withdrawing into yourself and cowering in the face of the panic flood, try to detach yourself from the situation instead. Rather than combat the fear, embrace it and learn about it.
Another successful coping technique is to re-frame the situation. Try to view events from a different perspective. Visualize the worst that could happen, and then realize that your current situation is probably better than that.
3. Stress Reduction
It may be possible for you to reduce the frequency of panic attacks by trying some stress reduction techniques.
One of the most effective ways to naturally balance your brain chemistry is through exercise. A program of regular exercise will not only help you become more physically fit, it could also help you overcome panic attacks. Other stress reduction and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing can help also.
Conclusion
So there you have it a quick guide to overcoming panic attacks. For immediate help, talk to your doctor about possible medications. You could also learn and apply coping techniques. Finally, take steps to reduce stress as much as possible in your life.
Don't let the fear of panic attacks control your life. You can overcome panic attacks and live with confidence.

What is the medication actos used for?
Well, no, it wasn’t “the entire room”. At least from the CSPAN video with shots of the crowd (0:53-0:56, 1:10-1:18, 1:25-1:28, and 1:33-1:41), it seems like most of the crowd just sat there listening. Seems like a vocal minority booed, a few seemed to find the whole thing amusing, and a couple of people stood and applauded when he finished.
It’s doubtful. That theory seems to be similar to believing Hitler was partly Jewish. Humans tend to try and find order in things that defy logic and reason. History shows us that we are always searching for explanations to things we don’t understand, even if those explanations are incorrect. Ancient Greece comes to mind.
i don't like the drug thing either. i cried it out. prayed a lot for help from god which i got. i quit work but i was near retirement anyway. i knit and try to rest more and when unpleasant thoughts enter your mind or fear which is my biggie, i push it out with anything that will keep me distracted until i'm calm. sometimes it is going to lunch or the library or reading or knitting. my attacks were more often when i was fearing something. i would get terrible pain in my chest. my blood pressure rose and my heart was pounding. went to hospital several times thinking heart attack. they told me it was anxiety. i only take an alprazolam (generic ) in its lowest strength and it works. one thing i learned is you have to try and not let unpleasant thoughts build up. because then BAM. anxiety. don't forget to pray.
i agree that was top quality! x
